During the last decade a growing interest has being seen on the study of disease in Mexican biological anthropology. Given the existence of some earlier reports on the subject, it is important to remark a new approach on this kind of research, one that has un covered certain matters traditionally disregarded as not pertinent. We are refering to disease not as an exclusively objective topic, but as one that can be seen from a subjective perspective. The purpose of this paper is to promote conceptual reflections about body, illness, and representations in disease reserch on comtemporary populations.
